Elsner explores the convention of souvenir-photographs used to adorn workplaces or those collected in family albums. By means of photography he can as if immediately work in 20 different jobs, from an undertaker to a pharmacist to a coach of a woman handball team. We see him in the souvenir-photos in the company of his colleagues or in front of his workshop. We witness an almost complete diffusion of identity, as each of his roles is equally convincing. Be that an amiable jack-of-all-trades or a petty thief with a pleasant appearance, trying to cadge his future employers praising his reputed qualifications, or even a guest laborer, desperately looking for work. The photographs are accompanied by drawings: young boys are still holding toys, yet they already look like professional workers. Elsner captures the moment in which the border between the child's play and obedience to the "adult" social order becomes effaced.
